“Today’s New York Times reports that one of the fastest rising “beauty trends” among the East Coast elite is not washing one’s hair, or, at the very least, washing it infrequently (as was the norm in the earlier part of the 20th century.)”
Jezebel’s post on this is titled, “Fashionistas Love Their Dirty, Greasy Follicles”, and while I get that the example the Times is using (girls getting beehives, wearing them for as long as possible, and then taking them out for the messy / tousled look) is extreme, but I don’t really see anything wrong with not washing your hair regularly. In fact, I actively avoid it. I try to wash my hair about twice a week, and trust me, my hair is all the healthier for it. And once your hair gets used to it, you dont need to wash it daily. I can easily go 3 days without it looking greasy, and on the 4th I’ll just put it in a pony-tail.
Am I alone?
Call me gross, but if that’s wrong, well, then I don’t want to be right.
