Verena Says

"Trying to fit in. Born to stand out."

Hi. My name is Verena. The rest of it is too long to type out.
This is my blog. And this is my Twitter.
The End.

PS. You can e-mail me at verenasays@gmail.com.
I'll definitely read it.
I'll probably answer.
I don't have that much else going on.

4 Months, 3 Weeks, and 2 Days…

…is how long it will take me to get un-depressed from having watched that movie.

That said: Go see it.

Go see it because it’s amazing, and it needs to be seen, and not just because it’s controversial (but that’s most definitely a good reason).

Go see it because it employs an impressive and effective subtlety on the part of the actors, the director, the screenwriter, and everyone involved in the film. It feels like more of a documentary that a movie, and that’s what makes it so heart-wrenching. And after watching films like Juno and Knocked-Up (both of which are amazing, and yes, comedies), it’s refreshingly depressing to see something as serious as pregnancy and abortion shown for the traumatic experiences they are. Not to mention the fact that the whole thing takes place in 1980s Romania, during which abortion was completely outlawed.

I don’t really want to write that much more about it, because I’ll only be setting your expectations too high, not doing the film justice by attempting to summarize it on my humble little tumblr. So, the end. Go see it.

PS. Sorry for the seriousness of these entries. But it does feel better knowing that some other people will join me in What-The-Hell-Is-Wrong-With-The-World Land tonight. Because seriously. WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THE WORLD?
