Dear Kate Hudson, I’m going to get right to the point. Can you please stop wearing really ugly wigs in your relatively mediocre movies? Don’t get me wrong. I’m a fan. A huge fan actually. I own Almost Famous (which is kind of a big deal, since the only other movie I own is Labyrinth), think that How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days was kind of genius, and I’m pretty sure I was...
Hey Champ! →
A not quite so self-indulgent link this time. This is one of my closest and oldest friends’ band. Jonathan (my friend) is the drummer, and they’re fantastic. Their style is more electro-pop, the song on their site sounds a little more Elliot Smith, but I think they’ve evolved a bit. In any case, they have albums released in Australia, Japan, France, and Germany, but — of...
Yay! Thanks to Adea&Abet I got the embed-tag for my GDNY Debut. So, here it is.
tumblr meetup at Whisk&Ladle
sharingtime: It’s time for another meetup! Instead of congregating at a bar, we’re doing things a bit differently this time. We’re meeting at the Whisk&Ladle! You’ll need to RSVP for this so I can email you the exact address. At the request of the folks who run this fine establishment, they ask you not to re-blog the address. Just email me at leetumbls (at) yahoo.com by Wednesday, April 2nd....
My Good Morning New York (and, unfortunately, Fox)... →
I can’t seem to find the code to embed this otherwise I would, but this is me on Good Day New York this morning. Note to Self: Buy black heels. Ideally patent leather. Black heels come in handy, particulary on television. You cannot wear flats to everything.
A Really Belated Update: I found a water cooler, so they do have clean water. I felt it was my journalistic duty to report that.
Working from home is fun. I feel so blogger-y. Except that I’m really sick. That is all.
RE: The Explorer's Club: Endangering Animals One...
adeandabet: “I’ve never seen a more unhappy Giant Snapping Turtle.” - Love it! I actually might have! Check out this dead giant snapping turtle from Hoan Kiem Lake in Hanoi, Vietnam (the photo doesn’t really do justice, but its quite large): Hmmm. A dead giant snapping turtle is probably pretty darn miserable. Although this one was getting poked with a celery stick, so it might be a tie.
The Explorer's Club: Endangering Animals One...
I meant to blog about my Saturday night, but I haven’t quite got around to it. In any case, I went to the Explorer’s Club dinner at the Waldorf Astoria. Yes, the Explorer’s Club. If you’ve seen The Life Aquatic, Steve Zissou is a member of the Explorer’s Club, and the movie opens at the yearly dinner. And yes, it’s a club of actual explorers. My adoptive big...
Happy Sweater Day!! (CLICK HERE! CLICK HERE!) →
Alright, I know you all know that in honor of Mr. Rogers it’s Sweater Day today, but I wrote what I think is a fantastic post on it for HuffPo, so I’d appreciate anyone who checked it out. It’s extra awesome because if anyone knows anything about Canada or, better yet, is from Canada, then you’re REALLY going to love my post, because it also features none other than Mr....
I guess part of my bummed-out-ness has to do with the fact that the only comment on my GMA Now post (which is up on the HuffPo Living page) was about how vapid and unintereseting I was and that it made sense that I would be on a crappy TV show. Um, commenters? I’m human. Also: I deleted your comment. So, there. You’re officially minus a “trust point.” (We have a strange...
I love my new job but the environment is taking some getting used to. My old office was really social and friendly and very, “Feel free to ask me anything!”, and this one, well, not so much. It’s not that it’s not friendly, it’s just that the job itself is very independent - everyone’s job here is very independent, so everyone is, well, independent. But I still...
I gotta say, this post by Moe on Jezebel, discussing vanity and bad photos et al., makes me feel so much less bad about this post.
Pornographic Drinking Devices Are Last Straw For... →
It’s days like this where I can point out exactly why I love my job.
Why do I feel bad when I’m using Pandora and I tell it that “I Don’t Really Like This Song”, and then it apologizes and tells me it’ll never play that song again. I’m sorry, Pandora, it’s not you. It’s me.
Confessions Of A Celebrity Blogger →
It all started with a dubious website for underemployed writers and a post that can best be described as the Internet equivalent of a casting call for a Valtrex ad. “Writer wanted for popular celebrity blog. Style must match exactly. I need to take a break for personal reasons and want to keep posting continuous for the readers. You will post under my name only. Send two sample posts to...
Look, Mom! I'm on TV! →
OK. So this is probably the most embarassing thing I’ve ever done, but yes, that link is to my segment on Spirituality for GMA Now. Is it bad that I am so utterly vain that my only issue with the whole video is the fact that it was shot from my bad side? (Yes. I have a bad side. My face is crooked. I know this because a dentist type person — in cahoots with my mother, no less —...
dear tumblr friends,
mascarah: please keep my dog, elle, in your prayers. last night my roommate left a pot on the stove (full of pasta/food), fell asleep, and burned part of our apartment. we had to evacuate around 4 a.m. when i woke up to a smoke filled apt and fire and my dog is having really bad problems with her lungs :( she is very little (3 lbs) and it was a lot of gas. my roommate and I are ok, i lost a lot...

Song Requests
Hi All, I’m at work and I need some tunes to listen to, and since I’m running out of things to plug into to Songerize, I’d appreciate your recommendations. I like all kinds of music - I just want to find some new stuff. Thanks in advance, V UPDATE: PS — I’m also looking for online music alternatives to Songerize. If there’s somewhere I can listen to full albums...

Yeah. I love glasses. What of it? Um, seriously, click on that link and read my post. If only for the best, most flattering photo you’ll ever see of me. Oh, and comment, should you feel so inclined.
Question for Everyone
lovepuppy: How long do you wait to follow up after an interview? Do places call you if they aren’t interested in hiring you and tell you “sorry, too bad”. Anyone out there work in HR? Word. Write an email the day after your interview to thank them. If you haven’t heard back in a week, write another follow-up e-mail just asking for their timeline, or when you can expect to hear back from...
I’m sad because I can’t make the Tumblr meet up on Thursday (my mom is in town) and I feel left out because I missed all the brouhaha that went on this weekend between Tumblinas and Testumblrone. Boo. I don’t even post regularly. (I’m so tired!) But I can still come to the Tumblina meet-up! That counts, right?
Sorry
I’ve been really sucky at posting lately, but it’s hard when your job involves posting things all day as fast as possible. I end up a little brain dead. So, as a solution, here’s a little cross post. In light of Eliot Spitzer’s, um, announcement, I decided to write a handy-dandy (as I describe it) list of Prostitution: FAQs. It’s actually not that funny or, really,...
Spirituality: What's Drugs Got To Do With It? →
Oy. My spirituality post is up, sans Simpsons video, though many thanks to Jill for e-mailing it to me!!! You’re SO appreciated. Anyway, I”m getting bashed around a bit by the commenters. I would have never thought there would be so many drug-defending crazies angry commenters out there! I didn’t mean to condemn drugs. I meant to condemn people who have “spiritual...
Booo!
I just wasted a good 27 minutes of my precious post-writing time looking for a video clip of The Simpson’s episode where Homer goes to the chili cook-off and eats some crazy habanero pepper and then wanders the desert on a spiritual journey, guided by Johnny Cash in the form of a coyote. Needless to say, I can’t find it. Stupid copyright issues. In lieu of a video, I’d be...
Why Am I The Most Consistent Procrastinator In The...
Still not writing my post - which, by the way, will be on the connection between spirituality and drugs - and am instead still blogging useless things from my phone. I got in bed with the intention of going to sleep at 10 and getting up at 6 to write the post. Obviously, that didn’t happen and now I’m just getting, once again, not nearly enough sleep and then still getting up at the...
Shantaram...
…is the book I am currently reading, by Gregory David Roberts. And it’s good, but it’s also the book that never ends. Seriously, it NEVER ends. I don’t even know what there is left to wrap up, but it’s still going. Anyway, just thought I’d share.
RE: The Photo In My Last Post
Yes, they are on the floor. We have a ridiculously comfy carpet that’s entirely condusive to naps. Both the sober and the drunk kind.
britticisms: I am a HUGE dog person, but I find it interesting that people are only NOW getting upset over the actions that some in the US Armed Forces have been participating in. There have been clips on YouTube of soldiers shooting innocent Iraqi’s like snipers for years now, and nothing. But then, the dog clip surfaces and everyone says we should shoot the soldier in the face and all that...
One more thing, then sleep. I'm exhausted.
juliaallison: A reader emailed me: You give the impression of not wanting to look into the world beyond your own magical and interesting and lively, sphere. You don’t seem to talk or think much (on your blog) about the rest of the world and its people, beyond those in your immediate environment. But I don’t believe that you don’t care- or can’t empathise with others- or that you don’t believe in...

Things I Learned Today
I had my first day at my new job today and, like most first days at most new jobs, I learned some things. And so, a list: 1. There are people out there who don’t know what the internet is or how it works. 2. There are people out there who speak English as a first language and yet they somehow don’t understand how to write it. 3. There are people out there who think that what they have...
Speaking of doggies, this happened. →
mollyboo: I won’t ever, ever watch this video, nor do I recommend anyone else too, but something is very, very wrong in Iraq and with the way American soldiers are trained for military. I understand (I get it, I just don’t approve of it obviously) that Marines have to be trained as cold-blooded savages (animals, really) for combat but why are they not trained in right and wrong? Ethics anyone?...
A Petulant Post
I start a new job tomorrow, and besides being exhausted, hungover, and on the verge of some ebola-like flu, I also have about 9387492873423 posts to write. Why do I always leave things to the last minute? I can barely keep my eyes open, let alone come up with even mildly coherent sentences. On what should be a really exciting night (in which a normal person would probably do something relaxing...
